Hi all, my name is Mike (aka kaeosdad) and I have been a gamer since a kid but have only recently begun running and playing in tabletop role playing games. I started a blog back in March 09 after discovering the rpgblogger network in the fall of 08 to share my ideas and opinions on gaming, but it's pretty much become more of a personal journal and dumping ground for when my mind just needs to speak out loud.
As a kid I mostly played video games but I was introduced to Dnd at an early age. Long story short I was unable to game and by the time I hit high school I stopped thinking about gaming altogether. I spent most of my time since then as a starving musician and a bum. I met my wife during that time, got married and had a kid over the last few years and after digging through my old stuff while moving I came across my gaming stuff. Playing role playing games was something gaming related that my wife and I could do together. She wasn't big on most of the video games I played and she knew some people that played DnD and so with my wife I got back into gaming.
Recently my wife and I have had our second child and she has gone back to college. We don't get together so much with our gaming group due to our priorities being focused on our family and raising our kids. However we rarely watch tv and so our hobbies have always been pursuing some sort of activity related to creativity and art. So while she does homework and the kids are asleep I'm usually sketching out notes and such while checking out gaming stuff online.
Coming up I'm starting up a play by post game over on the myth weavers forums. It's been in planning since early September and will be my first attempt at play by post gaming. I've neither run nor played in one before so hopefully it goes well.
For this social networking site I'll likely be using this blog feature to talk about my current games and thoughts on gaming as they come to me. I'm liking this site and the features a lot. Here's hoping that this site is a success and everyone uses it more often. There's a lot of potential to be found in this network.
