So I've been writing a series of flash fiction set in the classic dystopian cyberpunk(ish) setting and it got me to thinking...

What if it were the same attitude in the Stone Age? Or in Rome? Or in Greece? Obviously the Steampunk thing has caught on, but what if?

Granted, in the Stone Age, there would be significantly less access to electronics and metals so I was ruminating a different concept. What if the Stone Age Shamen put in organic replacements (such as the eyes of an Elf or somehow implanting dragon scales underneath the skin) or even replacing lost limbs with arcane stone or wood? Yeah, quirky... but it can be done according to the d20 3.5 and d20 Modern SRD's.

The argument keeps popping up in my head that it might be just easier with the current magic system, but the image of a few characters decked out in thier furry underpants weilding their stone daggers and spears facing off against a misshapen hulk of stone arms and a scarred chest in which beats the heart of a tyrannosaur.

The rules would be simple enough to gather together, but as a community, do you think those kind of quirky, odd, random rules would be a value, or not?

Personally, I love odd random rules. I think they are of value to stretch the ideas of what is possible in a gaming system, d20 or otherwise. I like the idea of facing a hulk of stone arms with the heart of a dinosaur...

I'd love to see it or help if I can.

This idea really sounds interesting. I'd love to hear more if you flourished on it!

sounds like it would work in a beyond-post-apocalyptic sort of setting. The apocalypse came and went, life goes on but technology of the past influences cultures and peoples as though it were gods and magic. Ancient shamanistic traditions would be futuristic medicinal practices that were just passed down orally through generations. Maybe stone daggers and spears are common because civilized areas are radiated or infested with dangerous creatures so finding weapons made of metal in decent condition is like finding a magic weapon.
