Role Play Media Network

a community for rpg bloggers, podcasters, vidcasters, and their audiences

Deadorcs (Randall Walker) here from Initiative or What? If this post is more appropriate elsewhere, please feel free to move it. What I'm wondering is, if there's a way to feed my current blog to this site so that I don't have to do a bunch of copy/pasting or rewriting for this site.

Thanks!

Well, I found a workaround if it turns out you can't import your own blog. The workaround is this: import your own blog using the rss feed on your profile page. Then, when someone clicks on your profile page, they can view your most current (or up to 3 full length or 5 header) blog entry. Holler up if anyone else has any better solutions.

If you go to the "Add Apps" on the left of your page, there are many 3rd party applications you can add. On about page 28 or so, there's one developed by Ning called "My RSS." With that, you can add five different feeds. It basically works the same as the RSS feed on your page already. The benefit is that you can add more than one feed. The drawbacks are that it's not readily apparent to viewers of your page, and you don't have the option of feed description or anything. I think it's meant more for adding feeds from other sites that you can check while you're logged in here.
It is another option, but I'd still recommend the feed you already found.

I added My RSS and then just dragged it from the sidebar to the center page.

Hi all. 2 questions:

Can a regular IRC chat client be used to access the chat room function here? We would need some sort of a server/port address to do so.

How do you get the badge to show up on a blogger site? Assume I'm a full blown technical retard when writing your explanation...

Thx!

Joe

figured out the badge thing. all you do is copy the code, and in blogger use the add a gadget feature to add html/java script. paste the link into the box. save. easy

The best/only way is to use RSS. If oyu look at how I have UncleBear ported to my profile page, you'll see an example.

The advantage of this is that it only gives a snippet, then the read has to click through to your blog to read the whole post. This drives the traffic to your site, and not just here.

Sadly, no. it's site-specific code.

Can items be imbedded on any of the pages?

Notably, I'm thinking about google docs and presentations, and (possibly in future) waves.

I'm trying to figure out a way to show recent activity related to threads or posts or new comments on your page. For instance I get emails when new discussions or threads I am following get new replies but is there a way to send it into a feed on my page?
